SAFE GUARDING
In order to protect vulnerable people from abuse and neglect, especially in the context of the church community, safeguarding is an essential responsibility. Ensuring the protection of children, adolescents, and adults who are at risk is a shared duty.
Our top goal at the St. Thomas Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in Dallas, Melbourne, Australia, is each person's safety and wellbeing. In order to help our parish and our spiritual organisations carry out this vital duty, our safeguarding team is committed to offering expert counsel and setting up training. We are here to help anybody who might have been hurt or abused.
Everyone in the church community must be aware of how to respond to any damage in order to protect these principles. Safeguarding officials who are qualified to deal with these situations must be assigned to each parish or benefice.
Reporting any abuse or exploitation is something we strongly encourage. People should have confidence that they will get the help they need and that their issues will be dealt seriously and resolved quickly.
Together, we can make our community a secure and encouraging place for everyone.
Please get in touch with the St. Thomas JSOC Safeguarding Team to report a concern or for more information.

St. Thomas Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church recognises the rich Aboriginal heritage within the municipality and acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung, which includes the existing family members of the Gunung-Willam-Balluk clan, as the Traditional Custodians of this land. Council embraces Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander living cultures as a vital part of Australia’s identity and recognises, celebrates and pays respect to Elders past, present and future.
